Thanks for another fabulous Mosaic

A huge thank you to all who came out to support our return to the stage. It felt great to pull out our party wear and perform swing classics to get everyone moving. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

Special thanks to Huntsville's In the Mood swing band and all our sponsors: Mercedes-Benz, the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, Starbucks, Piper & Leaf, TheNet Church, South Parkway Texaco, and KellerWilliams Realty. You made our event something special!

It's official! We have a winner in our 2020-21 Composition Contest!

Since 2018, the Huntsville Master Chorale has held an annual contest for local composers with a cash prize and the chance to have the work performed by The Chorale in concert. This year, due to the pandemic, we decided to open the contest up to give composers all over the world the opportunity to compete. We were thrilled to receive 56 amazing entries from all around the globe. Choosing a winner was extremely difficult, but not impossible. So, without further ado, the recipient of first place and the $1,000 prize is:

 Cole Reyes of Brooklyn, NY

Mr. Reyes, a student at New York University, composed "I Dream A World," based on a Langston Hughes text to represent this year's theme of Unity and Peace.Congratulations also to our honorable mention winner:David Hamilton from Auckland, New Zealandfor his moving choral work with orchestra, “Peace, My Heart.” Hamilton is an award-winning composer whose music has been published and recorded around the globe. So, our thanks to the many composers who not only met the challenge, but provided our judges with the difficult task of picking a winner from so many amazing entries. It confirmed our thoughts that there are musicians everywhere who braved the isolation of 2020 with creativity and heart. Cheers to creators everywhere who, when faced with difficulty, respond with beauty. We salute you!
